Isla Mujeres is a narrow island, and almost every reef trip meets in its compact downtown at the north end, within a short walk of the ferry. The reefs lie just off the west coast, inside the national park. The ferry from Cancún docks at the maritime terminal in downtown Isla Mujeres, at the north end of the island. Playa Norte is the beach at the northern tip, a short walk from the ferry.
The west coast faces Cancún across the channel. The national park is named for it: the Costa Occidental, or west coast, of Isla Mujeres. The reefs and the museum gallery lie there. The south tip, Punta Sur, holds a shrine to the Maya goddess Ixchel, according to the tourism board.
Most shared reef trips meet on one of four streets. The Island Adventures shop is at Av. Miguel Hidalgo 3. Señor Frog's and Mr. Frog's stand on Av. Rueda Medina, across from the ferry terminal. Contoy Adventours has its office on Avenida Juárez. The Black Pearl dock, at Abasolo 13, is where the whale shark boats leave.
Pocna meets inside the Nilu Hotel on Avenida Matamoros. The private yacht leaves from Marina Bartolomé on Av. Rueda Medina, near the ferry. The one meeting point outside downtown is Casa del Buceo's pier on Calle Pescadores, about a five-minute drive from the ferry.

From the ferry you step straight onto Av. Rueda Medina, the waterfront road. Señor Frog's is across the street. Mr. Frog's is on the same road at the corner of Av. Morelos, and Isla Sea Tours walks you 250 m from there to its boat.
Avenida Hidalgo, Avenida Juárez and Avenida Matamoros are downtown streets a few minutes from the waterfront. Allow about ten minutes on foot to any downtown meeting point. For Casa del Buceo, take a taxi or a golf cart.
Two mainland places start trips without the public ferry. The Punta Sam ferry terminal is where Isla Fun Tours takes its Cancún guests for the whale shark day, and where the yacht and the private whale shark boat can meet you. The Atelier Playa Mujeres marina, on the resort coast north of Cancún, is the catamaran's base.

The museum's Manchones gallery and the Manchones reef lie off the island's west side, in the park. El Farito is a shallow reef around a small lighthouse on a rock. The trips reach all three within minutes of the downtown piers, and the captain picks the order.
Isla Contoy lies about 25 km away, by CONANP's figure, and it is a separate national park. The whale shark feeding area is out in the open sea, about an hour's ride. It moves with the food, so no map pins it. The places themselves are described on the top snorkeling spots.
